(Matt Sayles) View/Post Comments CLEVELAND, Ohio Pitchfork Media , aka the indie music blog to end all indie music blogs, released its list of “The 100 Best Albums of the Decade So Far” on Tuesday morning, crowning Kanye West the king of the 2010s. On Monday, the website, which covers everything from pop and hip-hop to indie-rock, folk and electronic music, offered up its top 200 tracks from 2010-2014 . The top-five looked like this: Grimes “Oblivion” Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti “Round and Round” Kanye West “Runaway” (featuring Pusha T) M83 “Midnight City” Kendrick Lamar “B****, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Most people probably haven’t heard of Grimes or Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, and your familiarity with M83’s “Midnight City” may begin and end with a Victoria’s Secret commercial . Pitchfork’s list of the top 100 albums (2010-2014) is slightly more mainstream friendly: Kanye West “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” Kendrick Lamar “good kid, m.A.A.d city” Deerhunter “Halcyon Digest” Vampire Weekend “Modern Vampires of the City” Tame Impala “Lonerism” Sun Kil Moon “Benji” Fiona Apple “The Idler Wheel…” Kanye West is obviously the big winner with two albums in the top-10, while artists like Drake, Beyonce, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire and Daft Punk were also featured in the top-40. Personally, my top album from 2010-2014 would also be West’s “MBDTF.” However, most other individual lists would probably look nothing like Pitchfork’s. From a mainstream standpoint, top-selling albums like Adele’s “21,” Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” and “Red,” Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” The Black Keys’ “El Camino” and Mumford & Sons’ “Babel” don’t rate high (or at all) over at Pitchfork.

Though details are scarce, the Beatles singer has long been a fan of West’s, tweeting last fall thatYeezus was his most recent album purchase. Last week, Yeezy was spotted at McCartney’s concert at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium with actor David Spade. Page Six reports that the performers have a song in the can titled “Piss on My Grave,” which is only a slight step down creatively from McCartney’sKisses on the Bottom. Meanwhile, a source toldThe Sun that West”has been tapping Macca up for a while about working together.” The source went on to say that they’ve “quietly been collaborating on a number of tracks that could develop into an album.” Following the low-quality leak of West’s “All Day” last week, the “New Slaves” rapper is probably keeping a tighter grip on his upcoming music than ever. Would it be too crazy to imagine the two men working together on McCartney’s recently announced video game soundtrack ?

According to The Sun , West and McCartney have become quite friendly, and what would be one of Yeezys most notable collabos to date is actually a real possibility: Kanye really respects music legends and is still putting the finishing touches to his new album, an unnamed source reportedly shared. He has been tapping Macca up for a while about working together. Kanye and Paul have known each other for a long time but became more friendly recently, the source also said. Theres every chance theyll head into the studio together. Without so much as an official single, Wests upcoming effort is garnering quite the wave of anticipation. A leaked version of his song All Day topped a Billboard chart this week as well.
